Foreign expert Professor Michael Kraft at the International Class Exchange Session

On May 24th at 7 PM, the School of Materials Science and Engineering formally welcomed foreign expert Professor Michael Kraft. Dr. Kraft was invited by the school to act as a part-time class adviser and as host for specialized counseling sessions.

Professor Kraft has over 10 years of academic experience in colleges and universities from the United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium, which reflects his in-depth understanding of the European educational system and how to encourage international students to broaden their horizons. Among the sessions Professor Kraft has conducted, he asked students to come forth with specific questions about their areas of interest, which resulted in an open intellectual discussion that developed the students' academic curiosity and critical thinking skills.

Through this educational exchange opportunity, SMSE students enrolled in the School's international class can get valuable exposure to faculty who are experts in the European higher education system, and using this advanced knowledge, they have a better perspective on what academic opportunities there are for them after graduation.

Professor Michael Kraft profile: 

Michael Kraft is a Professor of Micro and Nanosystems at the University of Liege, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Montefiore Institute). Before joining the University of Liege in 2015, from 2012-2014, he was at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems in Duisburg, Germany, where he headed the Department of Micro and Nanosystems focusing on fully integrated microsensors and biohybrid systems. He concurrently held the W3 Professorial Chair of Integrated Micro and Nanosystems at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
